HISTORY
The Key to Success is a Foundation of Excellence.
ACR Image Metrix is subsidiary of the American College of Radiology
(ACR), the premier professional society serving more than 32,000
radiologists committed to ensuring that imaging is safe, effective, and
accessible to all patients.
The ACR's clinical research division in Philadelphia has been the
leading research organization in radiology and radiation oncology for
more than 30 years providing administrative, data management,
information technology, image archival, image interpretation and
quantitation, and statistical support for over 500 research studies.
ACR Image Metrix is based on the success and excellence of ACRIN, the
NCI-funded clinical trials cooperative group established in 1999 to
assess emerging imaging technologies. ACRIN's clinical trials have
involved as few as 65 to more than 50,000 subjects and have handled over
500 million images. The ACRIN portfolio includes such high-profile
studies as the Digital Mammographic Screening Trial (DMIST) and the
National Lung Cancer Screening Trial (NLST). Recent trials have focused
on the capacity of molecular and functional imaging to serve as
biomarkers of the effectiveness of anticancer treatments.
